It’s no secret that baking delicious breads and goodies is our passion. February is Bake for Family Fun Month, and in honor of our passion for baking, we want you to take some time out to bake with your kids. Besides creating delicious treats, baking gives kids the opportunity to:
- Learn real-world math—Measuring ingredients teaches fractions, cutting brownies or cake demonstrates division, and even just setting the oven timer helps kids understand different lengths of time.
- Develop precision and patience—If you measure wrong or skip an ingredient or step, your final creation won’t turn out as well.
- Cultivate a curiosity for science—What happens when you heat up chocolate? What causes a cake to rise? All of these scientific questions can be explored and answered when you bake together.
- Plan, organize, and follow through—From shopping for all the ingredients to cleaning up the kitchen, baking provides kids the opportunity to see a larger project through from the idea all the way to completion.
What are you going to bake to celebrate Bake for Family Fun Month? We want to know! We also encourage you to come and check out all the great bread and treats our bakery makes regularly, so stop by and see us when you get a chance.
